Our Physics 10 instructor's name is Carlo Amadeo Alonzo (I just checked out the UP Virtual Learning Environment and that's the name he put there.) I think it's a great name for a kid--unusual yet easily spelled, and you can never get the pronunciation wrong. If I have kids, I'll name my daughter Lilas... (that's French for lilac), or maybe I'll name them something Italian or Spanish, and then Filipino for a second name... or the other way around... Filipino for a first name and something Mediterranean for a second name... I'd name them Lavande ou Cho or Maharani or Niko (Abaniko), Cinna, Akhnilo, Dulce, Lazuli, Kahel...

I made a sandwich spread today. Chicken, mayonnaise, onion, salt and pepper. Mom made me do it. I'd never done it before. It's part of her plan to make me more... knowledgeable about cooking. So I shredded the chicken by hand (er, by fork) and I added all the other stuff too. That was this morning. I keep tasting it to see if it's okay. And also because I'm hungry. I eat one chicken sandwich every two hours. That's been three chicken sandwiches. Oh, two, plus a herb garlic cream cheese sandwich spread on top of--what else--bread.

The last chicken sandwich I ate (at two o'clock) had a bone in it. I didn't know it was there until I bit it. It was completely hidden by the chicken spread. I've read of this thing happening to other people. Good thing I didn't even come close to breaking my teeth on it, like they usually did. So I pulled it out of the spread, ate the spread that was on it, and found myself looking at the larger part of a wishbone. It looks exactly like what the winner of a wishbone-pulling contest would have in their hand right after pulling.

I finished the rest of my sandwich without finding other unusual things, and started on the wishbone, which really had a bit of meat and ligament on it. I'm chewing it now as I'm writing my entry.

Hm... maybe I should say "I wonder if I should make a wish on this wishbone", but that's not really the point of my story. The point is, you can find wishbones in your chicken spreads.

And by students/professors, I only mean the guy segement of our population. XD

No, really. As in wala pa 'kong nakikita. Yes, may itsura naman ang iba, but to be "cute" to ME, one doesn't necessarily have to be good-looking. More importantly, they act in a certain way. Guys who act in that certain way please me, and I call them "cute", even though that's probably the wrong word to use.

In other words, I don't see guy students in UP who interest me. Who have that... special something in their looks, or the way they act, or speak. I don't have to know them personally to get interested in them. But they've got something that makes my eyes follow them every time they pass by.

I can't quite put my finger on it but the only people who seem to have it here are some of the guy professors.

Yes, most of them are from the Kasaysayan Department. XDDDD But I think that's because lots of them pass through the corridor in Palma Hall where I used to hang out a lot.

Ergh! Andami kong gustong kunin sa second sem na unavailable either ang time, prof o subject!!!

1) Gusto ko ulit kumuha ng Kas1. Dahil favorite prof ko si Sir Vic. Now I'm really interested in Kas and I want to take it under different profs, just to see what it's like. I want to take Kas1 under Tantoco, Santillan, and Chua. (Acutally I want to take it under a lot more profs. I just shortlisted three.) But I can't retake the subject, unless I fail the final long test tomorrow and get a 5. D:

2)The natural thing to do, of course, is to take Kas2. I was prowling this thread last night, and I have decided: I'm gonna take Kas2 (Asian History) under Prof. Teodoro. *LAUGHS AND LAUGHS AND LAUGHS* But he doesn't have Kas2 any time after 10 o'clock! Rar! I wanna go to school starting 10 o'clock next sem.

3) Walang self-defense for women! Ok ba kunin ang archery?

4) Walang Physics 10 (Physics and Astronomy for Pedestrians)! Yaaak, ayoko talagang kumuha ng subject na may math.

I'm getting good in Filipino.

Im my opinion, anyway, which is honest and humble when it comes to the Filipino language.

This is my reaction paper for Kas1, for the play "St. Louis Loves Them Filipinos." My English 10 teacher says that the mark of a good reaction paper is that the reader will want to watch the play afterwards. I'd like to see if my paper does that for my dear blog readers.

If you wanna watch it, by the way, the last show is on Aug. 14. It's really good, with or without my paper.

There are a few spoilers in my paper, and at least one of them is major, but the lesson I saw in that spoiler was too important for it to be left out. Again, IMHO anyway.

There are also some weird characters that replaced the quotation marks and apostrophes. There are too many of them for me to fix and still find time to study for my World Literature midterm...

Which reminds me. I need help fixing my archives. Mrs. Ben depends on it. Help!
So, without further ado...

Kahit hindi pa ako tapos manood noon ng “St. Louis Loves Dem Filipinos,” ginawa ko nang isa sa mga idolo ko si Miguel Castro (Bulan). Sa wakas, hindi na nag-iisa si Johnny Depp. Nabighani ako sa lalim ng kanyang tingin, pati na rin sa parte kung saan huling yinakap niya si Maude. Nagulat ako doon, kasi parang hindi na siya umaarte. Parang totoo na. Labis din ang aking tuwa sa mga kanta niya. Kasabay ng mga ‘to ang kanyang pagiging bihasa sa Ingles. Wala lang. Ako kasi ‘yung klase ng tao na natutuwa sa kakaibang gamit ng wika at consistency. Tuloy, dahil sa lahat ng ito, fangirl na ‘ko ni Miguel Castro.

Dahil na rin dito, ang aking unang reaksyon sa pagmamahalan nina Bulan at Maude ay “Ewww…”. Hindi ako mapalagay sa nakita ko sa entablado: isang magiting at makisig na Magani at isang matabang circus lady na mababa ang self-esteem. Pero sino ba ako para sabihin hindi sila bagay? Ang pag-intindi at pagtanggap sa isa’t isa ay basehan ng totoong pagmamahalan. Pero dahil nga mababa ang tingin niya sa sarili (hindi niya natanggap ang kanyang sarili), sa huli hindi rin matanggap ni Maude si Bulan. Hindi ang racism sa Amerika ang humiwalay sa kanila, kundi si Maude mismo. Kaya nakakalungkot talaga ang kanilang paghihiwalay. Hindi niya alam na siya mismo ang nagkulong sa sarili.

Naawa rin ako sa mga Pilipinong naging bahagi ng St. Louis World Fair. Walang malay nilang binenta ang kanilang dignidad kasi hindi nila nakita ang kabuuan ng sitwasyon; ang kahalagahan ng bawa’t maliit na galaw sa sankatauhan. Tama ang sinabi ng guro ko sa Pranses: kahit sinong Pilipino na nangingibang-bansa ay nagiging ambassador natin.

Buti na lang hindi puro awa at malalim na pag-iisip ang pinagawa sa akin ng “St. Louis.” Kahit na minsan kailangan ito, pangit ang masyadong nakalulunos na palabas.

Naaliw ako sa ang itsura ng mukha ni Ronan Capinding (Gramps/Alfredo Timawid). Akala ko matanda siyang aktor, kaya sobrang nabigla ako sa eksena kung saan naalala niya ang sunog. Nakanganga ako doon (I gaped.) Parang ‘di kapani-paniwala ang reaksyon ko, pero ‘yun talaga ang nangyari. Talagang nagulat ako. Pwede pala gawin ‘yon sa teatro!

Napamahal din ako sa karakter ni Momayon dahil sa kanyang diyalogong “Bigyan mo ako ng bundok…” Ewan ko kung bakit gusto kong nakikita ang pagmamahal sa nature sa mga tao, pero ‘yun. Ang galing pa kumanta ni Mae-Ann Valentin. Silang tatlo nina Bulan at Alfredo ang paborito kong tauhan ng kwento.

Dati tinatamad ako manood ng mahabang dula, kahit na propesyonal na ang kompanyang nagtatanghal, kasi ang daming sinasabi ng mga aktor, pero ang bagal ng mga aksyon nila. Madalas hindi ko pa matukoy kung sino ang mga taong nasa entablado, lalo na kung nagpalit sila ng damit. Madalas hindi ko makita ang mga mukha at maliliit pero napakahalagang galaw ng mga tagaganap. Lahat ng ito ay sanhi ng napakalaking teatro. Kaya masaya ako, at hindi naiinis, sa liit ng Wilfredo Ma. Guerrero Theater. Hindi ko sana na-appreciate nang ganito ang “St. Louis” kung mas malaki siya.

Tapos meron pang panahon sa ibang dula na kailangan nilang ibahin ang set. Iniiwan nila ang mga nanonood na nakaupo sa dilim, walang ginagawa, hindi pwedeng tumayo, at hindi pwedeng makipag-usap. Dahil rin walang ganito ang “St. Louis”, hindi ako masyadong nabagot sa panonood.

Hindi ibig sabihin hindi ako nabagot kahit konti. Minsan hindi ganoong kaganda ang enunciation ng mga salita sa kanta, kaya hindi ko sila naiintindihan. Nakakainip para sa ‘kin ‘yun. Hindi kasama dito ang “Pusong Naglalakbay” at “Hold Your Head High.” Sa totoo lang naiyak ako sa “Hold Your Head High.” (Hindi naman hagulgol. Mga dalawang patak lang.)

Pero kahit na. Wala pang dula ang nakagagawa ‘nun sa ‘kin. Para bang “The Lord of the Rings.” Naiyak din ako at halos tatlong oras rin ako nakaupo doon (per movie), pero hindi siya sakripisyo. Hindi siya “waste of my life,” tulad ng iba kong gawain sa pamantasan.

Rereading the previous posts. Clarification.

Suffice it to say I have very high hopes about a certain issue. But I also have very dark suspicions about it.

I got my Bio exam grade today. 2.0. Not bad... but not that good either. Would you like to hear my other grades?

Okay. I will tell you.

World Literature: Average of 1.97 in quizzes, and 1.83 in papers. Not bad, but not so good either... Well, at least my grades are getting higher with every requirement I pass... I prefer it that way instead of being inconsistent... which is what I know I am in Kasaysayan 1, even though I haven't seen any grades from that subject yet... But I'm learning the most from these two subjects. That reminds me: I will post something about Kas later.

It's hard to get high grades in college. Except in French:

French 10 1st exam: 68/70 (97%). Because a final grade of lower than 2.0 puts us EL majors on probation (1 sem to do better or be forced to shift), I was so paranoid about this test that I wrote out my answers in pencil and then inked them, even though erasures were allowed. So I became too distracted to spot that my "elle" and "la" were s'posed to be "elles" and "l'".

I seem to have a natural ability for language...

Yeah, well, thankfully, the grades aren't my priority right now. I'm learning. A LOT. And some things... are not that pleasant to learn about.

Where to start...?

UP is fun. I love UP. I love my professors. I love my schedule. I like my PE. I love my World Lit classes. I love my body and all the exercise it's getting. I love riding jeeps. Nothing's been stolen from me yet. Nothing I've lost yet.

I begin to understand why we need to be good in Filipino first, and English second, for our country to rise.

I have an unbeatable reason now, as to why I should learn all (not get the highest grades) I can. I am my country's investment for the future. Duh, everybody is, no matter what school they come from. But there's something about coming to school on the first day of classes and being told that you are an iskolar ng bayan. Yeah.

I wub UP. But do I love my course? I honestly don't know if it's what I'm made for. But I'm not going to waste my time, money, and effort, while I'm still waiting for that answer from God. I'm going to get all that I can get from European Languages. Sabi nga ng Kas professor ko, "Walang karunungan na napapanis, nasasayang." Yehey. Go Sir Vic!

Ah, love. There's so much I want to tell you, but there's so little time and I've put it off for so long. We'll see, when we met again, loves.

Sometimes, I still wish I had gone to Ateneo. But I prayed, and it still wasn't given to me. I guess all the good things that I've been experiencing in UP are God's way of saying, "UP is a good school. And I want you to be here."

Also, I have lost 5 pounds. Yay! But I must now get serious about losing weight, and now not get overconfident.

I had a coconut roll right then the other day. I saw a coconut lying on the very-wet-but-not-mud-ground in a wayside curb in our subdivision and I saw that it was empty. I kicked it up the hill (using only my feet now) and then I rolled with it down the hill and strolled alongside with it as I go down the hill. I had more fun than I had had in playingFairyland , which I had been doing for that whole day. And I have more fun using bad grammar with it than I do having strolled down the hill with it.

Being yourself is so freeing. And doing what you want is the only way to do it, because it's so freeing. Lalala...

Do what you want cause it's so freeing, and you only live once. Or twice.

Whoo... I just finished emrolling in UP yesterday... it was hell... and here is my schedule:

You know, over the past few days I've been busy with preparing my enrollment information in UP. I've been busy counter-calling UP, Racine, Holy Spirit and my mother all in turn over some questions on requirements and such and such.

And you know what?

It sucks.

Paulit-ulit na lang ako tumatawag at nagtatanong tungkol sa mga ganitong requirements at ganitong schedule, dahil paulit-ulit na iba-iba ang sinasabi ng UP sa acceptance letter, websites, at balita sa mga enrollees. At iba rin ang sinasabi ng Registrar ng Holy.

Masama na ang loob ko sa UP. And I guess it's only a natural result of that that I'm thinking more and more of how I lost Ateneo...

I have a piece of advice that I long to give you, every one of you reading this thing, but I can't because, yes, it will result in someone getting punished, but not being able to learn what is right.

Not much, save that I've finally gotten my Coke-bottle-shaped body back (back from being an icepick-shaped body) and that a house burned down in our subdivision yesterday. Man, it happened in the morning, and when I stopped by to look at it in the afternoon, the whole roof was gone. Man... I hear that the owners of the house left for a vacation and didn't leave anyone to guard the house... Oh man... well, if for any reason you want to help but don't know how, just pray for them, if you believe in God.

Yay! New layout, as well as some new posts. Some have been sitting around as drafts for a couple of days, s'if ye only scroll down a bit ye'll miss something special. :D

Oh yeah. I just finished reading the Arabian Nights, and am now reading Pearl by Tabitha King. Yeah, Stephen King's wife. It's a pretty good book, and I'm in chapter 4. No horror or suspense here, just a novel about some independent woman whose name is, you guessed it, Pearl. Or Margaret. Or Gretchen. 'Cause they all mean the same thing.

Yeah, well, I'm rambling. Why not? Walking is good for you! I'm getting a toned waist already. Nothing compared to my parents, tho. They started going to the gym a couple of times a week a few weeks ago, and MAN, do they have muscle. I can actually see my mother getting biceps! And my dad's arms are getting really sinewy and old-beef-tough. I can feel it through his skin.

One day I will post an excerpt here from the Arabian Nights.

Be forewarned, the Arabian Nights combines repeated blessings and mentionings of Allah and exotic descriptions with descriptions you probably never imagined of sex. I won't print them here; our teenage hormones don't need any more encouragement, don't you think? But if you want to learn more about Arabic culture, this is a good place to start. It's chock-full of revealing stuff about those people we like to call terrorists. For example, if an Arab tells you that you look like the moon, that's like their highest compliment. That's how nearly all the beautiful men and women are described in the nights. The next most popular comparison is that to silver. "Her skin was like a silver ingot [figurine]". Also, all magic spells have to use drops of water. Also, the lighter the skin, the mort beautiful for Arabs. Which is surprising. Or maybe not so. Filipinos and Arabs have the same skin color. African slaves were considered ugly.

And all that jazz.

Just finished work today. Proofread Kerygma (June 2005) and Sabbath (2006). I like proofreading, which is really just picking out the errors in the magazine and correcting them. Of course, that says something about me... something to correct? I guess.

I like my job, now that I get to read inspiring stuff all day. The first day I had to do some research and interviews. My only real resource was the Internet, and I took three whole days to finish all that. It was like being in school again, mostly, and I dislike that so bad I thought I was going to quit as soon as decently possible. But now I'm optimistic 'cause of the proofreading session. Guess I just have to find the right websites, and the right people to interview (interested? *winkwink*). With some more proofreading sessions once in a while, and I think I'll be able to do this once or twice a week the whole summer. :D

And maybe the reason why I want to stay on a lil bit longer is because I saw Bo Sanchez today. Yes, I was starstruck. XD He just walked into the office and said "Hi" to the room in general, and then started going to each of us there and giving us each a sort of blessing. Nothing more than a hand uplifted for some of us, but he put his hand on my shoulder. [ YM :)) ] I wonder why. I was so starstruck I didn't even look at him when he touched me, even though I was the first one who noticed him walk into the room. I got a big rush from seeing him there, and for the next few minutes I couldn't work and kept smiling suddenly at nothing in particular. [ YM :)) ] Yeah, I really admire Bo Sanchez. I guess that's what meeting a celebrity feels like.

Maybe God used him and the proofreading session to tell me that I should stay at FiSH for a little while longer, to find my true calling. That's what I've been praying for. You know, I never was actually supposed to do the proofreading. That's the work of Rissa Singson, and whoever she's interning. She just happened to give it to me, even though I'm Reeya Lucero's assistant. Just cause she thought I was doing nothing, I guess. But I was doing something for Miss Reeya! -.-

Ugh! Right now I'm playing The Doors, a really hard online game that is like the Crimson Room. *groan* I'm already at the near-end of the game, except I can't find the last piece of the puzzle! Argh! Oh well. I promised myself a challenge that I would not look at any cheats whatsoever for this game... I looked at a walkthrough for the number code, but promised myself I REALLY wouldn't look at any cheats next time. It takes all the fun out of games. Plus, it does nothing for your self-respect.

Anyway, I've been poking around the net for more fun games and interesting Flash movies. Here's what I've found:

Final Fantasy A+ -- you won't get it really unless you're a Final Fantasy fan.
The Doors -- don't worry about not getting the numbers right the first time, unlike in the Crimson Room. Man, that's probably why I like this game so much, apart from the really weird symbols...
Yahoo! Music Artist of the Month -- Rob Thomas [lead singer of Matchbox 20] has always been one of my favorite artists, and it is with nostalgia that I view his new solo Lonely No More. I like the music video (you can view it in the link) but it is definitely not one of my favorite Rob songs. You can see some old Mb20 videos here too.

What's new?

1. I have very short hair now, ala PatCor or Aliah or Hitomi (Escaflowne). I hate having to fix my hair, see.
2. I'm waiting for UP to put me in European Languages, AB Psychology, or English Stu dies.
3. I've been accepted for a summer job at FiSH magazine. Woot! (What does that mean anyway?) I'll probably start work next week.
4. The 05 yearbook will probably come out in June. (So sez Jackie...)
5. The 4th issue of the Voices will come out... never. Joke. I have no idea. Ms. Galicha has never contacted me, so I haven't involved myself in any way.

Been busy. When I'm not playing Puzzle Pirates, I'm exercising. And writing. And taking care of all the UP forms. And shopping. And drawing up plans to recycle all of my household's garbage. And if that works out, I'll be expanding it to the whole subdivision.

I haven't been able to blog for the last few days, because I've been busy looking for a grad ball dress. Mannn, I WILL lose weight this summer. AND keep it off.

Anyway, I now have my dress, all my accessories, and my shoes, after 3 days of whole-day shopping in mebbe 3/4 of the malls in Metro Manila. Whoo... I love you Mom! Napaka-patient and persistent mo sa kin. :D

I was also busy reading "The Sandman" compilation volume one ("Preludes and Nocturnes"), which I asked for as a grad gift. Sobrang sulit... Waw... fan na talaga ako ni Neil Gaiman... That book gave me so much to think about.

Wow... everyone's so stressed about exam week... I'm glad I'm not that stressed. Lighten up, guys! It's all in the approach. Let's say you've got Subjects A (minor) and B (major) tomorrow. If you don't like studying for long periods of time, study Subject A for 30 minutes, and then STOP. Yes, stop studying. Switch to Subject B for one hour. And then Subject A for 30 minutes again. And over and over. If you feel aches in any part of your body, stop for a while. Stretch. Do something else other than study for a while.:)

This is what I've been doing for the third and fourth quarter exams. Before that, for all of my life, it was really MARATHON studying. As in, "I'll study this subject until i understand it all completely and have gotten a perfect score in all the homeworks and seatworks that I will reanswer as reviewers." It could reach up to 8 hours for something as hard for me as Pinoi. Dedication? Yeah, well, I guess so. But last quarter my body didn't want to be so dedicated any more, resulting in a mental block that led to a failed Physics exam grade. I went from a 90 ("YES!) to an 88 card grade ("NOOOO...").

So I tried doing the alternate studying. And it worked! (Haha, parang ad).

So, just in case all else fails, you can try this. :)

I must keep trying or else I have no hope of ever recovering from always wanting to stare at you, from always wanting to touch you and look into your eyes in a dark secret way that implies I know, when I'm just pretending.

I must remember that I must work for what I want and not desire it in your image. I must remember that the wanting to touch you is not my desire for you, because I have no desire for you. through my nose (sick) and my throat's starting to dry out. I couldn't scream properly at the educator's day program because of that.

XD Nah. I was bored, but I was yelling for Ben onstage. XD Bakit siya lang ang lalaki sa buong prep dance troupe?

My parents formally gave me my birthday present today. They told me I would get two credit cards last week. I got a good look at them today. When I first heard about it from them I wasn't thrilled, but I thanked them. Today, when I got a good look at them, I realized I wasn't thrilled at all. I actually didn't want them, and told my parents outright "Parang... anong gagawin ko dito?" ["Sa mga 'to" is probably correct--yes, I feel really guilty, Ms. O].

What AM I going to do with credit cards? I don't go out, I don't make big purchases--I don't even have an allowance! Just a maintenance. I know this is old, I've been saying these things all my life, but it's just the point! Dad says, "They're for emergencies." Ok, that's a valid reason for having a credit card. But then he says, "They're a responsibility. We give them to you because we feel that you are now responsible enough. Now you really can't leave your wallet in a place where it might get lost."

More responsibility? For something I don't really need and will just make me more anxious and afraid? I don't think so.

When he saw today that I wasn't pleased at all he said "Kaya kita binigyan kasi alam ko 'di mo naman gagamitin, 'di tulad nito [nudges my sister] wala pang card pumipirma na sa voucher." He made everybody laugh except me. I said, "Do I really need to have these credit cards?" And when I say things in that really weary tone that's the older, dead-serious sister of the tone kids use in "Do I really have to take a bath?", my family gets the idea that I don't really want to do this. So my dad told my mom "Ayaw pa yata ni Makee, tago mo muna yung cards sa safe." Thank God they understood at least that much.

I refuse to believe that growing older entails more responsibilities and a lot less fun than I had in my youth, like my dad keeps telling me. "Enjoy your high school years, they're the best years of your life." Oh, and what is all the rest? I believe everyone decides how fun their life will be. No one else decides it for them, although they might like to think that way. I will have the best years of my life when I grow old, because that's when I will have learned the most life lessons.

XD I wonder what's in store for Bayanihan tomorrow? I haven't planned anything yet for them. I haven't even read the lesson yet. Ooh, putayan na naman 'to. Oh well, it's worth it so that people become interested in economics. Yay!

Also, I have to do the write-up for the invitation to our grad ball (that's on March 26 for all you gatecrashers XD). I don't know why Aliah is asking me to do this, when I couldn't think of any good name/catchphrase for our horror booth last week.
